CONCEPT / STORY

This AR sculpture explores the early intersection of artificial intelligence, digital materiality, and sculptural form.

The work combines a volumetric figure with a texture generated using one of the earliest versions of Stable Diffusion, marking a moment when AI was first entering artistic workflows as a visual collaborator rather than a tool.

Artistic Intent

My intention was to explore how early generative AI reshapes the role of the artist.

The sculpture balances control and surrender: the form is precisely constructed, while the surface emerges from an autonomous algorithmic process. This tension reflects a broader cultural moment — when artists first began to negotiate authorship with neural networks.

The figure appears calm and distant, as if observing its own hybrid origin.

AI & Texture

The surface texture was generated using one of the first Stable Diffusion models, at a time when AI image generation was still unstable, fragmentary, and raw.

These imperfections became part of the visual language:

  • uneven golden patterns
  • organic cracks and flows
  • a sense of digital material aging

The AI-generated texture was later adapted and integrated into the sculptural form, preserving its generative origin.

SCULPTURAL REFERENCE
Alongside the AR sculpture, a sculptural reference was created to study proportion, silhouette, and balance.

This step allowed the digital object to retain a physical logic, despite existing only in augmented space. The reference acted as a bridge between traditional sculptural thinking and computational aesthetics.
