CONCEPT / STORY

This AR face mask explores the image of a futuristic cosmic princess — a speculative portrait formed entirely by light, reflection, and digital matter.

The mask exists as an augmented layer that transforms the face into a luminous, otherworldly object.

Artistic Intent

My intention was to create a face object that feels both regal and fragile.

The form references crowns, halos, and orbital structures, but avoids literal symbolism. The mask floats between ornament and armor, suggesting protection, power, and vulnerability at once.

AR enables this balance by keeping the object immaterial — present, yet untouchable.

Light as Material

The key feature of the mask is its three independent AR light sources:

  • Blue light — cold, distant, cosmic
  • Violet light — transitional, atmospheric
  • Pink light — warm, intimate, human

These lights interact dynamically with the mask’s surface, creating shifting reflections and highlights. The result is a constantly changing appearance that reacts to angle, movement, and environment.

Light here functions as sculpture, not decoration.

AR EXPERIENCE
The mask is experienced through a mobile device, aligning precisely with the user’s face.

As the user moves, the light reflections shift, producing a subtle performative effect. The face becomes an active participant in the artwork rather than a passive surface.
VISUAL LANGUAGE / ART DIRECTION
  • orbital and halo-like structures
  • metallic, reflective surfaces
  • celestial geometry
  • soft yet precise contours

The design draws from sci-fi aesthetics while maintaining elegance and restraint.
